What We Are Building
Six pillars that explain what Shumagin Supply Co. is for, beyond apparel — and what it is meant to give back to Sand Point, Area M, fishing families, Native communities, and the next generation.
Local Shop and Local Jobs
The long-term goal is a local shop in Sand Point — a place that creates jobs, supports small business, and gives people more ways to create, earn, learn, and contribute without having to leave home for every opportunity. A working storefront for a working town.
Apparel and Products Seen Statewide
Apparel is not the final goal. It is a way to carry the name, pride, story, and identity of Sand Point, Area M, fishing families, Native communities, and the Alaska Peninsula statewide.
When someone in Anchorage, Bristol Bay, Kodiak, or Southeast sees the name, they should understand it represents working people and a part of this state that deserves to be recognized.
Deckhand Skills, Fishing Tools, and Boat Resources
Practical tools for working people: deckhand training, net mending resources, settlement tools, boat documents, maintenance support, and reference material for new and experienced fishermen.
The goal is to put real, useful information in the hands of crew members and skippers — the things that usually get learned the hard way, written down somewhere a new deckhand can actually find.
Settlement Clarity and Tax Recovery Education
Shumagin Supply Co. wants to help fishermen organize settlements, receipts, expenses, advances, deductions, and documents so they can better understand what they earned, what they may owe, what records they have, and what their next step should be.
Tax recovery is about clarity, organization, and a realistic plan. It means helping fishermen understand where they stand, what records matter, what questions to ask a qualified professional, and what a path forward can look like.
Local Artists, Culture, and History
A commitment to highlight local artists, support Native organizations, share regional history, honor Unangax̂ culture, promote cultural pride, and help young people see where they come from as a strength.
Advocacy for Area M and Our People
The brand will advocate for accurate information, fair representation, sound science, local knowledge, Native communities, fishing families, and a future where conservation and local opportunity can exist together.
Build something useful.
Build something local.
Build something that gives back.
Build something our people can be proud of.
